It's Time for the Book Fair!!
Our Spring Book Fair will be held the first week of March. Flyers will be sent home closer to that time. Our theme will be “Book Fair Diner: All You Can Read!” Check out our web page at bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/cesca or simply click on the link on our school website.
We are still working on our AR Goals! With half (50%) of our school year finished, many students have indeed reached 50% of their yearly goal. In fact, 4th grade classes have over 60 students who have reached this half-year goal!!! Great job, and congratulations to all students for doing a super job reading.
Attention Parents of 3rd Graders
Arts Arising, Kershaw County’s Program for Artistically Gifted and Talented Students in the 3rd grade, will be held this summer. Nominations are now being taken for students in the areas of music, visual art, movement and/or theater. If you have a 3rd grader that you would like to nominate for this program, please stop by the office and fill out a nomination form or email Mrs. McDonald at aregina.mcdonald@kcsdschools.net or Mrs. Wallace at Martha.wallace@kcsdschools.net.
Tardies
I have been very lenient on tardies due to the cold weather. We will be making parents sign students in who are tardy. Please remember your student is tardy at 7:30.

AR
The Accelerated Reader program is up and students are reading good books and taking quizzes! Students in 2nd-5th grade took the STAR reading test and were given year-end goals based on the results. Each student should have brought home a note listing year-end goal and the average book level that they should quiz on. Some student scores may have been updated due to the most recent STAR test given. Students were told about any new goals for AR, and they were taught how they could access their goals, points and percentage scores on the computers at school. First grade students should get 15 points by the end of the year, and kindergarten students should read a book-a-night (at least 5 days/week) and turn in reading logs at the end of each month.
